Nyirrunggulung-RISE Barunga and Beswick teams, with the help from RISE Katherine aspirants, planted 200 avocado trees at the Katherine Research Station. The Station researches crops, farming and growing techniques in the NT. They’ll be using this avocado orchard to find out the best varieties and techniques for future commercial growing. For our teams, this is part of our wider project to learn how to propagate, grow and harvest vegetables. Once the teams have the knowledge, they can take it back to their communities where we’re establishing community gardens. Great work everyone for working together on this big day of planting!
