Kukimbat Gudwan Daga – “Cooking Good Food” in Barunga and Beswick

Our exciting cooking project ‘Kukimbat Gudwan Daga’ has kicked off with our ladies in Barunga and Beswick!  The ladies had a fun day of creating new recipes, learning new techniques and making some deadly meals. Keep reading to find out more!

Kukimbat Gudwan Daga means ‘Cooking Good Food’ and it’s the perfect name for what the ladies have been doing. What makes it even more fun is that it’s a “My Kitchen Rules” style cooking competition between the two communities!

Kieran from Group Training Northern Territory has been onsite teaching the preparation and cooking techniques. A big thank you to him for being an excellent Trainer!

Kieran demonstrating cooking skills

The ladies learnt how to make mayonnaise from scratch, how to debone a whole chicken, made stock with the bones and knife skills.

 On the menu they cooked:

  • 3 different salads
  • Marinated chicken
  • Fried rice
  • Chicken and sweet corn soup
  • Tuna mornay

Yum!! Top job ladies and we can confirm it was all delicious. Kieran will be back in November for another week of training – we can’t wait to learn how to cook more dishes.
