Beswick and Barunga Ladies Get Creative At Weekly Hand Sewing Classes

Hand sewing is not only a very useful skill to have, but also an opportunity to be creative and make something fun!

The ladies hand sewing lessons have started with great success in Beswick and Barunga this month. Mel from Prime Shine NT – Craft Supplies is sharing her wealth of knowledge with our ladies. She’s teaching them everything there is to know about a needle and thread!

Every Tuesday and Thursday, Mel teaches the ladies all about hand sewing and how versatile this skill set can be.

In week one, the ladies in Beswick started out making small shopping bags and teddy bears. In Barunga, they also got started on shopping bags and will be focusing on baby blankets for their community after that.

With the knowledge that Mel shared, one of our employees Ann Marie was able to sew all the material together to put around the Bow Shed for an impending funeral in Beswick.

All the ladies enjoyed coming together to learn something new and to share a cuppa tea, fresh fruit and a good yarn for morning tea.
