Indigenous Women in Construction Program

The wait is over! Day one of the first theory block for the Indigenous Women in Construction program commenced on International Women’s Day.

A cohort of 15 Indigenous women from Beswick community, Barunga community, Manyallaluk community and Katherine have started to complete their Certificate III in Civil Construction (Plant Operations).

On completion, the 15 participants will be qualified to operate graders, skid skeers, front end loaders, backhoes and excavators. Words can’t express how proud of you we, and your communities are, of you ladies.

Team work makes the dream work and a huge thank you goes to the CFMEU, BMI Training and Development, Jawoyn Association and Angus Knight Group for collaborating to fund and deliver this first of its kind program.
