Nyirrunggulung-RISE has opened the doors of their Katherine Training Hub to students and educators from Barunga School!
Nyirrunggulung-RISE has partnered with the school to run workdays for the senior students, who will be mentored by the team. This will give the students some practical building experience and exciting learning environment. And they can make items to use at home!
For some of the students, we hope it will spark an interest in a career in construction or another trade. We started with a tour of the Hub, followed by a session on safe operating procedures in a work shed. Then we introduced them to some of the tools and machines we use with a safety briefing on each one.
It was great to see both young men and women interested in this opportunity. We look forward to our first students coming in for their workday!
