A huge shoutout to the dynamic duo, Billy Tati and Nathan Runyu, for their amazing contributions to the Barunga community! The Nyirrunggulung-RISE team had the pleasure of surprising them with hampers to celebrate their efforts on community projects.
During the school holidays, Nathan, Billy and the team were the local heroes at Barunga School and Barunga Creche.
The list of tasks completed by Billy, Nathan and the Team:
- Built a flat pack shed and shelves for the creche
- Cleaned up the area by removing hazards like a dangerous tree root
- Built a cover for a water valve
- Fitted vents and door safety chains on the LOC Container School
- Sprayed weeds
- Mowed lawns
- Built a dog-proof fence with a self-closing gate for the school’s bin area
And let’s not forget—they did all this under the blazing Central Arnhem sun!
Their hard work makes our community spaces safer and more functional and also promotes strong teamwork in the community. We can already picture the delighted grins on the kids’ faces when they stroll back into class and see all of the fabulous upgrades waiting for them.
