A Working At Heights Qualification and Employment for 4 Binjari Aspirants!

Congratulations to four of our Binjari crew who just achieved their Working at Heights certification and gained full-time employment with Binjari Construction!

Our Binjari fellas and Binjari Construction employees joined together to complete a 3-day Working at Heights training course with the Batchelor Institute.

A nationally recognised certification, Working at Heights teaches participants how to develop safe work methods and risk assessments for working at height.

The Batchelor Institute is the only First Nations dual sector tertiary education provider in Australia. Their trainer came down to Binjari each day to take the men through both theoretical and practical exercises.

The training was very comprehensive, and the guys were fast-learners, keen and engaged.

Here’s some of what they learnt:

  • Regulations and legislation
  • Risk assessment and hazard elimination
  • Equipment selection and use
  • Anchor systems, selecting solid and reliable anchorage
  • Fall restraint systems, selection of equipment and correct use
  • Fall arrest systems
  • Correct use of ladders and ladder safety training

With their new certification, our guys were qualified and ready to work to step into full-time employment with Binjari Construction.

We’re so proud of them! We will now provide in-work support to ensure their employment is successful and sustainable.

Big thanks to the Nyirrunggulung-RISE team for facilitating this. Connecting aspirants with training to fill vacancies with local employers is a successful model we will continue to deliver in Central Arnhem!
