The Manyallaluk and Beswick teams have been working together on a community garden project in Manyallaluk.
The main aim of the project is to encourage locals to grow their own vegetables at home which they can pick and eat throughout the year. As well as supporting people to grow their own food, it also encourages healthy eating.
This week, the men have been building a shade house. This will be used to propagate vegetable seeds which will then be shared out in their communities.
In the future, we plan to collect and grow native trees and bush food plants to be nurtured and planted on local Country. This part of the project will be done with consultation from locals and elders.
The Manyallaluk community garden project is a fantastic example of locals working to boost their community, learn new skills and have a purpose for each day.
We love seeing their teamwork on this – well done guys!
