Manyallaluk’s work team got involved with the new wooden toy activity.
Below is one of our proto type wooden toys, built by Kevin Hand our Katherine based Supervisor. We take the toys Kevin makes out to the activity sites to showcase what can be achieved and boost the engagement. Properly not a Good News Story for JSs but would be nice to acknowledge what he is doing to help Nyirrunggulung RISE boost our choice of things to do and sharing his great skills.
This new type of work is increasing skills in measuring, fine cutting of timber, joining, designing, and material ordering.
The keenness shown in making the wooden toys was amazing.
The plan is to donate a number to the local kids and then start to build up a stock to sell at Katherine Dry Season Markets and on request from others.
We would love to see this evolve into a small local business that will be available to be done by all Sites with women and men welcome to take part.
