Nyirrunggulung-RISE staff and aspirants have been participating in First Aid certificate training and refresher courses this month.
Having your basic first aid certificate is so important for people working and living in remote communities.
Barunga, Beswick and Manyallaluk are over an hour’s drive from the nearest hospital in Katherine. Administering first aid could be the thing that saves a life.
We were also lucky to be part of a one-day Mental Health workshop.
We learnt about the mental health spectrum, how to spot the signs if someone is struggling and what to do to lend them a hand when they need it most.
